Beyondly (formerly Comply Direct) has achieved its certification as a B Corporation!

Beyondly (formerly Comply Direct), a market leading environmental consultancy and compliance scheme, has in September 2022 achieved its certification as a B Corporation (or B Corp) with an overall B Impact Score of 85.7*, joining a growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit.

Beyondly has been certified by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement, as having met rigorous social and environmental standards which represent its commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit.

With further transformative and effervescent developments upcoming for the business in 2023, this is a key milestone on the company's continuing journey to ensure the business positively impacts all, whilst inspiring a collaborative effort with other organisations to adopt the same culture, and collectively make our world the best place it can be.

The B Corp certification addresses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency. To complete the certification, Beyondly has legally embedded its commitment to purpose beyond profit in its company articles.

Beyondly is now part of a community of over 5000 businesses globally who have certified as B Corps. The B Corp community in the UK, representing a broad cross section of industries and sizes, comprises over 1000 companies and include well-known brands such as The Guardian, innocent, Patagonia, The Body Shop and organic food pioneers Abel & Cole. In addition, many of the company's customers are accredited, who they are proud to be joining on the B Corp movement; including Rude Health Foods, Wholebake, St Eval CandleCo, and One+All.

Recent attention on the environmental and recycling industry makes Beyondly's B Corp certification a notable step and signals a shift towards greater accountability and transparency in the sector.

Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, says “We are delighted to welcome Beyondly to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies who are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good. Welcoming Beyondly is an exciting moment because they have an opportunity to lead the way within the environmental industry. We and the rest of the B Corp community are really pleased to support them in paving the way for a new way of doing things. Their commitment to doing business differently will be an inspiration to others and really help spread the idea that we can redefine success in business to be as much about people and planet as it is about profit”.

In response to having accreditation confirmed, Jessica Aldersley, Managing Director at Beyondly, saidWe are absolutely delighted to have achieved B Corp status following the rigorous assessment process. Beyondly, formerly Comply Direct, has always operated in alignment with the B Corp principles and we’re very proud that the assessment process highlighted to us all the great things we have already been doing to positively impact people and planet. We are, however, always striving to be better, and the process has also given us lots of ideas around how we can further make an impact on society and the environment by leading, inspiring, and educating to ensure a better, fairer, sustainable world for all. There are lots of exciting things to come, and this is just the start of our B Corp journey.”
