Environment Agency Proposes Regulatory Fee Increases

The Environment Agency has launched a public consultation on proposed increases to regulatory charges, aiming to address their rising operational costs and inflationary pressures. The consultation, open until 28 May 2025, seeks feedback on adjustments to Environment Agency charges affecting AATFs and battery and EEE producers.

The proposed increases range from 7.5% to 14% across varying sectors such as waste, water, and nuclear industries. The aim is to ensure full cost recovery and support investments in digital transformation for improved regulatory services.

From 2026 onwards, the Environment Agency plans to update all charges annually in line with inflation.

We are encouraging our members and suppliers who could be affected, to participate in the consultation to help shape the final proposals.

Responses can be submitted via the Environment Agency's consultation portal, or by emailing enquiries@environment-agency.gov.uk.
