I’ve been at Beyondly for well over 10 years and have worked across, or in collaboration with, lots of different parts of the business. I started in a data analyst and account management role, supporting Packaging, WEEE & Batteries members with data projects and submissions. I then progressed into a more senior position, while also taking on responsibilities around PRN procurement, including trading, processing purchases, and analysing market data to support purchasing decisions.
I loved being able to directly save our members money through my work and decisions, and this soon became the core focus of my role when I became Procurement Leader in 2021. By 2024, I was managing all PRN procurement on behalf of Beyondly as Procurement Manager, ensuring PRNs were purchased at good value for our members.
Today, I still oversee PRN procurement, alongside WEEE & Batteries evidence procurement, with a strong focus on commercial performance. I also look after some of our largest WEEE & Batteries members from a commercial perspective, while helping to bring others into the scheme.
I’ve loved every year and every role so far, and I can’t wait to see where the journey takes me next.
-
Organisation – No matter what my role has been, strong organisation has always been vital. Having a clear oversight of what needs to be achieved, both in the short and long term, has really helped me manage a wide range of responsibilities throughout my time at Beyondly.
-
Adaptability – Working within PRN procurement especially has helped me develop the ability to quickly reprioritise and pivot when needed. Markets move fast and decision-making has to as well, so being adaptable has been a huge part of my development.
-
Communication – People do business with people, and clear communication makes a real difference, whether with customers, suppliers, or colleagues internally. Picking up the phone, being clear and reliable, and following through on what I promise all help build strong relationships and get things done successfully.
Working through significant legislative changes, such as the transition from Producer Responsibility to EPR for packaging, has really helped develop my ability to adapt quickly and manage change effectively.
Working across different service areas, including Packaging, WEEE and Batteries, has also helped me build strong relationships across the business and develop a solid understanding of each service area.
More than anything, working at Beyondly has taught me the real value of teamwork and collaboration. You can achieve so much more by tapping into everyone’s strengths rather than just relying only on your own.
Go with the flow! It’s easy to feel like you need to know exactly what you want to do at every stage of your career, but I’ve found that if you work hard, give things a go, and do your best in whatever role you’re in, you naturally carve your own path. Over time, you figure out what you enjoy, where your strengths are, and where you can make the biggest impact.
