I joined Beyondly as a Data Analyst in 2023, and have been given opportunity to quickly build both technical knowledge across different systems as well as develop industry knowledge across different regulations.
Throughout my time at Beyondly, I have worked on set goals and objectives which focused on improving my technical skills, building confidence in my communication, and ability to lead projects independently. I have learnt a lot through collaboration with colleagues and working across different teams; specifically observing and learning from colleagues, across communication and presentation skills through video calls, site visits and general day to day work.
Over the past couple of years, I have completed multiple EPR submission rounds, each of which strengthened my analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. One of the biggest milestones in my career development has been helping to develop and launch the WEEE data management process, working alongside different members of the internal team as well as a various types of data. This involved improving internal processes, ensuring data accuracy, and building more efficient reporting solutions for customers.
My progression and growing responsibilities has led to my promotion to Senior Data Analyst , in which I have continued to take on more ownership within projects, support process improvements, and contribute towards delivering high-quality compliance reporting for customers.
Communication and Confidence
Over time, I have become much more confident communicating with both internal teams and external customers. Working on submissions and supporting large customers has helped me explain complex data and compliance requirements in a clear and professional way. This is important in my current role because I regularly work with customers, answer queries, and collaborate across departments to resolve issues efficiently.
Problem Solving and Process Improvement
A major skill I have developed is identifying inefficiencies and improving processes. While helping launch the WEEE data management service, I worked on improving data handling and reporting processes to make them more accurate and efficient. This helps me today by allowing me to proactively solve issues, streamline workflows, and improve the overall customer experience.
Technical and Analytical Skills
Through managing multiple submission rounds and working with large datasets, I have significantly strengthened my analytical skills and attention to detail. I have become more confident using data to identify trends, validate information, and ensure compliance accuracy. In addition, I have gained experience of developing Excel, BI and the use of AI to help with day-to-day jobs or more complex internal systems. These skills are essential in my current role as they help maintain high-quality reporting and support informed decision-making.
Managing six submission rounds has been one of the biggest contributors to my development because it taught me how to work under pressure, manage deadlines, and maintain accuracy while handling large amounts of data. Each submission cycle also improved my confidence in communicating with stakeholders and resolving issues quickly.
Another key experience was being involved in the development and launch of the WEEE data management process for clients. This gave me exposure to project ownership, process improvement, and customer-focused problem solving. Working closely with different teams also helped me understand the wider business and develop stronger collaboration skills.
I always think site visits are key to learning how different companies operate and how you can develop relationships with different clients. It helps to build up a personal connection with a customer and helps make the whole process with them run smoother , it really helps with the understanding of the regulations and how to deal with different customers with different communication styles.
In addition, learning from experienced colleagues and being trusted with increasing responsibility early in my career helped accelerate my development and prepared me for my progression to Senior Data Analyst.
Be proactive and take opportunities even if they feel outside of your comfort zone. Some of the biggest learning experiences come from taking ownership of projects, asking questions, and getting involved in new areas of the business. It is also important to stay open to feedback and continuously look for ways to improve both technical and soft skills, and always ask the ‘difficult’ questions to go outside of your comfort zone. Career development takes time, but being consistent, curious, and willing to learn can lead to strong progression opportunities.
