As part of Extended Producer Responsibility, the Packaging Recovery Note (PRN) system is in place to ensure producers cover the costs related to the recycling of packaging waste placed on the UK market.

As a packaging compliance scheme, we are responsible for purchasing sufficient recycling evidence – PRNs – to meet the required tonnages of our members' obligations. We purchase PRNs across all materials from accredited reprocessors and exporters that have been authorised by the Environment Agency to generate PRNs.

If you are not a member of Beyondly, you can still take advantage of our vast PRN procurement experience and utilise our UK-wide network of accredited reprocessors and exporters generating PRN/PERNs accordingly. You can do so by registering with a scheme, or if you are registered directly, by requesting a quote.

The PRN Market

PRNs trade on an open market and prices continually change throughout the year based on many external factors; therefore, our dedicated Procurement Team monitor the market daily. We have a robust procurement strategy ensuring the supply of sufficient and legitimate PRNs from our extensive supply base, to achieve compliance for members at the best available market rates. We are continually analysing all data available as well as rigorously auditing PRN suppliers to make the best decisions and removing any risk on our members' behalf.
