Beyondly and Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust: Supporting nature restoration and community

We are proud to have supported Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) through our Fund for Change programme since 2024 - a commitment to donating 5% of our net profit to charitable causes and community projects delivering positive impact for the planet and society.

For two consecutive years, Beyondly's annual funding has supported the vital work YDMT do to protect and restore nature, support the community, and inspire the next generation to take action on climate change, providing grants towards their Seed to Sapling and Green Futures projects.

Aligned with our purpose to lead, inspire, and educate to positively impact society and the environment,  Beyondly have volunteered and fundraised for YDMT multiple times over the years, so we are delighted to be able to grow our partnership further.

Beyondly are helping to fund the Green Futures project with a donation of £20,000, marking our second consecutive year supporting YDMT to deliver impactful programmes for the environment and community.

We are excited to share updates on the progress of the project, and see the real difference YDMT continues to have on inspiring the next generation and helping nature thrive:

  • 937 connections were made with young people through the Youth Outreach project - supporting those who would not usually get the opportunity to connect with nature, through inspirational experiences and practical skills. At least 370 young people benefitted from longer term support, attending more than one session.

  • 9 sessions were held as part of YDMT's Youth Environment Forum, actively involving 26 young people. 16 young people also came together as part of the Annual Youth Summit to enjoy a weekend of sharing ideas, workshops, and practical activities.

  • 9 young people completed their apprenticeships with YDMT in March 2026 and 8 more began their journey in October 2025; gaining valuable knowledge, skills and confidence - all made possible through YDMT's vital support and Beyondly's funding. Of the 9 that completed their apprenticeship this year, 6 went straight into employment and 1 is considering university.

  • 90% of young people impacted by YDMT's work are believed to be from underrepresented groups.

Beyondly Team Tree Planting Dec25

As part of Beyondly's 20 Year Anniversary celebrations, we are proud to be funding the woodland creation of Blaithwaite Farm, Giggleswick, consisting of 400 native broadleaf trees and 160m of native hedgerow.

In December 2025, the Beyondly team were delighted to be given the opportunity to volunteer alongside YDMT at the woodland - planting woodland and hedgerow at a 50-acre farm, enhancing wildlife access and biodiversity.

Seed to Sapling Project

YDMT's Seed to Sapling project was launched to safeguard local woodlands and increase biodiversity, by educating and empowering communities to grow native saplings from local provenance seed. As well as the positive environmental impact, the project also has a strong community focus, helping to increase wellbeing and encourage local people to come together to make a positive impact.

With Beyondly's support for 2024-25, the project aimed to:

  • Develop YDMT's network of three community growing schemes to grow up to 1,000
saplings, and up to 5,000 annually within 3 years, with YDMT's nurseries helping to provide rare buckthorn, rock whitebeam, and willow species.
  • Deliver 12 training sessions, including biosecurity webinars and veteran tree ID, to empower communities with the necessary tools and skills to maintain their own tree nurseries.
  • Support two woodland trainees take the first step in their dream careers, with yearlong traineeships that will enable them to find long-term employment.
  • Engage at least 70 disadvantaged individuals in woodland creation.

We are delighted to see the impact YDMT's Seed to Sapling project has had following Beyondly's donation of £25,000.

Significant progress was achieved over the year across four communities and YDMT sites: Clapham, Malham, Crosby Ravensworth, and Swaledale. The project saw YDMT's community groups establish; growing their interest, skills, and knowledge across seed collection, germination box building, and growing. From training workshops to educational walks, 14 events were held, with 123 attendees in total.

In 2025, members of Beyondly team visited YDMT's Clapham site to help with the project; getting involved in propagation box building and seed sowing, and seeing first-hand the amazing work carried out at the tree nursery.

The project also supported two trainees at YDMT, who completed their yearlong programme and developed the valuable skills, experience and confidence to succeed and grow in the sector. Both trainees have gone on to secure positions, as Woodland Officer at the Lake District National Park, and as a cave guide in Canada.
