Comply Direct sponsor Environmental Technology competition at local primary school!

It was a true pleasure to have the opportunity to sponsor an Environmental Technology competition at Fearnville Primary School in Bradford. The aim of the competition was to raise awareness of the environment while developing the children’s team building and presentation skills.

The competition was run by a local Rotary Group, a global network of 1.4 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe and in local communities.

On Friday 20th January, Chris Smith, our Resource Efficiency Leader went to Fearnville Primary School to give a short presentation to the children and judge the competition! Chris provides an overview of the day;

“The aim of the competition was to create an environmentally friendly village and also a means to transport radioactive containers using a pulley and winch to cross the river and into a mine shaft. We saw solar panels, green groves, parks, trees and some really ingenious engineering ideas to solve the radioactive waste transport. It was a pleasure to judge the competition and be part of a day that encompassed teamwork, leadership, creativity, and coorporation.”

There were 7 teams in total, with team 5 taking 1st place (left) with their innovative and creative ideas.

Stephen Bailey, from the Rotary Group also shared his comments on the day:

“Just to reiterate our huge appreciation for Comply Direct’s financial support and Chris’s attendance on the day. After what was a brilliant presentation, it was a joy to see the way the children worked together to complete the task. It was difficult to choose between them all in reality, although, as we expressed on the day, the real objective of working together on an environmental topic and having fun was fully achieved.”
