Comply Direct Sporting Challenge 2022

After a tough 22-mile walk, the full Comply Direct team are overjoyed to announce our fundraising total of £1,240 for our chosen charity, The Cellar Trust!

Our sporting challenge took place on Friday 19 August and saw half of the team take on a staggering 22 miles in one day, walking the less familiar Wharfdale Three Peaks, nestled in the Yorkshire Dales.

The team started the day from the small village of Kettlewell and set off at 7am, tackling the steepest of the three peaks first, Great Whernside! This was a 2-mile accent, pushing the team to their limits from the very beginning. We then moved onto Buckden Pike and finished with Birks Fell, giving us an extremely long decent back to Kettlewell over the moortops.

Emily Baker, Marketing Coordinator at Comply Direct who took part in the challenge said,

“This was an immense challenge for the team, however one we faced with a huge amount of team spirit and dedication. It quickly became clear that the Wharfdale Three Peaks have little when it comes to purpose-built paths, creating tough terrain for the team to tackle, including dodging bogs and a touch of rock climbing. However, thankfully, we were very lucky with the weather and were able to enjoy some of the amazing views the Wharfdale three peaks has to offer, whilst raising money for an amazing charity.”

Whilst this challenge took place, a smaller group took on a 14 mile walk, taking them from Kettlewell, to Starbottom to Buckden and back. This walk was as equally challenging for the group as they pushed themselves beyond their own limits to achieve this great distance over the course of the day. It was important that the whole team had the opportunity to take part, recognising the different abilities amongst our team, that were equally challenged as part of this annual event.

Louise Bailey, Talent and Culture Co-Coordinator who took part in this challenge said:

"A group of around 10 of us completed a slightly smaller trek which challenged us in different ways. We supported each other with injury flare ups, helped to motivate each other to get up the steep hills and worked as a team to navigate the route! We got to spend time with others from different teams and it felt like a real achievement for us to get to the end of the 14 miles and know we’d done our bit to raise some money for the brilliant Cellar Trust."

The Cellar Trust are a registered mental health charity that supports people with mental health problems, across the Bradford district, Craven and surrounding areas to move forward in their recovery and live independent, fulfilling lives. Mental health problems affect everyone in a different way, and they can be devastating. Their purpose is to support people when they face these challenges, and to empower them to move forward.

Thank you to everyone who donated to our sporting challenge, it is hugely appreciated and kept the team going through this immense challenge!
