Beyondly Sporting Challenges 2019

This year we have encouraged staff to take on sporting challenges to help raise money for causes that are important to them. So far, we have raised a total of over £2700 for a variety of charities and we are not finished yet!

Our Business Development Manager Catherine Guy kicked-off the sporting challenges by completing the Gung-Ho! 5k obstacle course. From Born Slippy to Surfin’, Catherine managed to bob and weave her way to the finish line to raise £100.00 for Macmillan Cancer Support and another £100.00 for Down Syndrome Training and Support Services. A fantastic individual effort from one of our sporting challenge trail blazers, this will not be the last time you hear Catherine’s name in this post!

The St. James’s Place Sprint Triathlon headed north to The Broughton Hall Estate where our Marketing Manager Melanie Harper and Catherine took part in an exhausting test consisting of a 400m indoor swim, 23km road cycle and 5km run. This was the first triathlon both have competed in and we are extremely proud of them for challenging themselves and raising money for more great causes. They raised a total of £360 for Hope and Homes for Children; a charity who work to help children grow up in safe and productive environment across 7 countries in Central and Eastern Europe and Africa.

Next up is Race for Life 2019! On a lovely sunshine filled day in Preston, four members of the Beyondly team participated in the 10km run, raising money for Cancer Research UK. The ladies who completed the run were Jessica Aldersley our HR and Operations Director, Cherry Whittaker our Marketing Coordinator, Louise Bailey our HR & Finance Assistant and finally Melanie Harper with her second challenge so far. The ladies surpassed all expectations and ended up raising a gigantic £800, even selling baked treats to raise extra funds for a cause that affects so many.

Following the success of Beyondly’s Tough Mudder entry 2017, we decided to get down and dirty for a second time participating in Tough Mudder Yorkshire 2019! Ten members of the Beyondly team underwent a series of gruelling obstacles across 8 miles with Catherine actually completing the challenge twice, participating the following day to raise money for two fantastic charities - Cancer Support Yorkshire and Contact the Elderly. The team have raised a combined total of £1345 so far; the donation pages are both still open for any last-minute donations in effort to push this amount up nearer the £2000 mark!

Many thanks to all who have donated to our causes so far, your support is very much appreciated. All the links to each charity we supported are below so you can discover more about what they do and how you can get involved to help the cause. We still have more challenges in the pipeline so keep your eyes peeled on our social media channels to keep up to date.
